About Me

I was born in a suburb of Cleveland, Ohio, and left there in 1970 to join the Air Force. I served five years as an enlisted man in the USAF, including a tour in Vietnam when I was 19. I was selected to participate in an education and commissioning program and attended college in Alabama (Troy University) then reentered the Air Force as an officer in 1977. I served 15 years as an officer and flew B-52s and served as a public affairs officer. I retired from the Air Force in 1992. I then went to work for the federal government as a civilian. I served another 20 years as a civilian, working in the Department of Defense and for the Department of the Navy, the Department of the Interior, and the Department of Homeland Security. I retired from civil service in 2013. Now I am enjoying my hobbies -- music (I'm a drummer), shooting, photography, genealogy research, reading, flying as a private pilot, and, of course, motorcycling. I'm a life member of the Combat Veterans' Motorcycle Association (CVMA) and participate in a number of Meetup motorcycle riding groups.
