A shot of me and my 2007 Vulcan 900 near Elephant Seal Beach along the famous Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) of California....one of the very best rides anywhere in the USA.

This is my 2007 Vulcan 900.  It was my first bike in over 30 years of not riding - I got 93,000 miles of enjoyment out of her, but alas, she finally said "no more" and drove me into the seat of another therapist, Miss Vivian....but Dr. V will always be my first love! :-)

As soon as I saw this photo of her, I knew I had to have her.  My first bike was giving up the ghost and telling me it was time to move on.  Although she looks A LOT like my VN900, this VN1700 is a lot more bike and will last me for many years to come - I will always need wind therapy!

Just off the roadside in the middle of Nowhere, California....not much to see, but heck, it is nearby and a good ride, so why not?

The Blossom Trail Cafe in Sanger, CA is a great breakfast spot in the Central Valley.  Great food - biker friendly, and just a few short miles from great riding in the mountains and foothill of the Sierra Nevada.

This is my 2007 Vulcan 900.  She has 92,000 miles on her now, and it is time to retire her as a primary ride, give her some much needed TLC, and save her for twisty roads in the mountains where she loves to run.

This route is a good mix of highway, secondary highway, and twisty back roads with Tulare, CA as the start and end point.  This ride will take the better part of a day, so that will make it a great day!

First stop is for breakfast at the Blossom Trail Cafe - simply said, great food always!

Then wind your way into the hills (good idea to top off your tank in Auberry and pick up a drink and some snacks for later) and you will reach the geographical center of California....when you stand at that point, the whole State revolves around you!

From here, you can return the way you came, or make a loop of it with "the express route" as your way back to Tulare.



Journey to the Center of the Earth - err, California

This loop starting and ending in Morro Bay is, in a word, FUN!  The first time I rode highway 41 the only words I could say was "now, THAT, is a motorcycling road!"....and highway 58 does not disappoint either - in fact it is rated as one of CA's best backroads.
