5 year project bike

This is how the bike looked the day I picked it up.

This is after most modifications. Polished the aluminum cases and covers, added lowering blocks (dropped it down almost 2"), changed to larger shocks, cut seat down in height and length and recovered, took off entire taillight assembly and signals changed out for a tail light and signals off a '73 CB750, new handlebars, painted tank and side covers, changed front forks for 2" extended forks, new tires, took off chain guard, new mirrors, relocated front signals. I ended up doing a partial spray on the exhaust and getting a solid aluminum master cylinder, also. Did all this work myself in my garage except balancing the new tires. This came with a 31" seat height. I have a 32" inseam. Didn't work out too well, my left leg got a workout at every stop.

The previous owner was not going for looks he was going for speed. He use to race this bike back in the '80s.

This is usually a great ride, however me and a buddy got caught in a storm about 15 minutes out of Basehor, KS last time we went and it got pretty crazy. 70 mile per hour wind and pouring rain, I thought for sure a few times Delilah was just going to get blown clean off the highway. I was able to lean into it enough to keep her up and on the road though, whew. 0 . 0   We finally made it to a Casey's in Basehor and got under the canopy for a bit till the wind died down a little and finished the ride in the pouring rain. Typically though I would give this ride 5 stars, not a lot of traffic, back roads, some good scenery and makes for a good afternoon. Plenty places to stop and grab lunch on the way too.

Riding around Perry Lake

Of course the Kansas side was a much better ride (don't have to wear helmets on Kansas' side of the line). The highways also seem a little smoother on the Kansas side. Great trip though, roughly 350 miles, a perfect one day ride. We went with some friends and did it in about 9 hrs. We spent probably and hour in the mall and stopped to eat lunch and took several breaks, we weren't in any hurry, just enjoying the ride.
