I won this bike in a poker game back in 2008.  It is a great bar hopper but it will beat you to death on the highway.  I've considered selling it a few times but I just can't bring myself to do it.

Fundraiser for a local homeless shelter.  Quick little 100 miles followed by a great BBQ dinner.

Nice ride with several clubs to help raise money for a local homeless shelter.  It was great to see the sport bike and the cruisers out together for a common cause.

This is the second half of my dream summer tour around the lower 48 states.  Starting in Texas on June 1st I would give myself 2 months to complete the 14,185 mile circuit before having to be back in the classroom at the beginning of August.  What do you think, is it possible?

Dream trip around the country Part 1 of 2

A couple of buddies from the fire department decided they wanted to head out to Vegas for a long weekend.  I took the opportunity to do a couple of 1,000 in 24 runs.

On the outbound I thought it would be nice to ride through the mountains of New Mexico without considering the temperature difference between the high plains and the mountains during early spring.  That was a painful mistake that involved buying some clearance winter gear at a ski shop in Ruidoso.

For the return trip I thought I would avoid that issue and cruise the Sonoran desert in southern Arizona.  Of course I ran straight into a spring thunderstorm from just outside of Tucson through Las Cruces.  Good thing that ski gear was also water resistant!

Even with the setbacks, it was a pretty awesome ride and I earned mad props from my friends when I rolled up on the Strip.  By the way, Texas, New Mexico, & Arizona do not have a helmet law for adults, Nevada however does.  Fortunately the Clark County sheriff deputy that explained that was also kind enough to point out the nearest retailer that could help me remedy the issue...
