North Carolina Grand Tourer

There is nothing like the rhythm of a mountain ride. 🤝

This trip took us from the valley floor at Sweet Dreams RV Campground in North Cove all the way to the historic Mast General Store in Valle Crucis.

We followed the climb up US-221, crossed over the ridge, and picked up NC-181 to drop down into the valley. Every mile of this route reminds us why we ride—the brotherhood, the crisp mountain air, and the journey we share. 🛣️

Mountain Run: North Cove to Valle Crucis 🏔️🏍️

Rode up the mountain through Bakersville, NC to Loafer's Glory to the famous Bonnie and Clyde's Drive In and found out they had a "secret menu" and ordered the, Kicking Burger, along with some sweet tea and "that much" Cheerwine to flavor it up followed by a real chocolate ice cream milk shake. This ride was 6 months before Hurricane Helene and the floods hit the area. Looking forward to another ride up there. 

Took backroads back on 226A to Hwy 80 consisting of the Devils Whip back to Marion, NC.

Beautiful ride from North Cove on 221N up to Hwy 103 to 181N to Hwy 105 to Broadstone Rd into Valle Crucis and to the Mast General Store and Annex.

Mountain Run: North Cove to Valle Crucis

From Ingles Market in Marion we took 221N to 226W through Spruce Pine, NC, taking a portion of 19E back to 226W to  Bakersville, NC and continuing on to Bonnie and Clyde's in Loafer's Glory. Leaving Bonnie and Clyde's we took a left out of the parking lot and rode about hundred yards or so and hit 226A South to Hwy 80 back to US70 in Marion, then on to Old Greenlee Rd to Old Hwy 10 W and backroads through Marion back to Ingles Market.

From Improv Guerrilla Studios Office at 226 North Cove School Rd, Marion I rode over to 221 South to Chase High School Road to US221A North to Meet Paul at Hope House Coffee Co where I followed him to Slim's.
